synopsis on forests and the criminal government
governments, once the protectors of forests, have become the destroyers.
with the exception of Antarctica, there isn’t a square inch of the planet which hasn’t been explored or plundered . . . in the US, had congress not started the drive for conservation in 1864, first with Yosemite, then Yellowstone, followed by a significant succession of others in the national park system, the country today would be fully denuded, developed, lumbered and mined . . . the state and local governments followed the federal lead and conserved forests not already under federal protection.
we today are the beneficiaries of the early conservationists and government interventions . . . we normally think of government action as egregious, and it normally is, protection of the environment and preservation of forests may stand as the singular benevolent act of the nominally criminal government but there are signs that the current governments are surreptitiously repenting of forest protection.
our forebears, through their vision of impending environmental apocalypse and determination to prevent the eradication of natural beauty, gifted us these forests which we explore and enjoy today . . . we need not only to be grateful to them but vigilant to preserve these gifts for future generations . . . there is an evil intent afoot at the local and state levels by the kleptocrats to find ways to convert protected lands into revenue . . . for example, and this is becoming increasingly common, the kleptocrats misapply forest management by clear cutting to harvest lumber for revenue, claiming falsely that it’s for the benefit of wildlife . . . in other cases, the kleptocrats are reversing protection status of forests to be clear cut for solar fields, and the kleptocrats are now preemptively confiscating forested private property via the Kelo v. New London Supreme Court decision which allows government to take land by eminent domain for purposes of economic development.
it is critically incumbent upon we conservationists of today to work diligently, tirelessly and with eternal conviction to overturn Kelo v. New London as the primary action item, followed quickly (if not concurrently) to prohibit the clear cutting of forests and fields for solar installations or for supposed forest management . . . the correct and superior method of managing a forest is by prescribed burns and burning should be the sole forest management tool going forward.
We need to understand that the kleptocrats are money-hungry extortionists . . . we need to understand that like our forebears, we are at a threshold where the natural realm is under extreme threat, not from developers, lumber companies and miners this time, but from the corrupt criminal governments which once protected them.
Same battle, different enemy.

So well written
